M.Sc. Analytical Chemistry will be in regular mode from session 2022-23.

Chemical analysis plays a role in virtually all aspects of everyday life throughout the world. With analytical techniques and instrumentation becoming evermore sophisticated, there is an increasing demand for qualified analytical chemists. This industrially relevant course will provide you with a strong background in the theory of analytical techniques and give you the ability to apply these techniques to complex analytical problems. You will study good measurement and scientific practice and the evaluation and interpretation of data. You will also develop skills to prepare you for your career, including problem solving, organisation, data collation, review and synopsis, time management and teamwork.

Learning Outcomes:

  • The M.Sc. analytical chemistry program provides the key knowledge base and laboratory resources to prepare students for careers as professionals in the field of chemistry and particularly in analytical chemistry enabling them to interface not only with various branches of chemistry (organic, inorganic, physical, biological, industrial, environmental, pharmaceuticals etc) but also with the related fields, and for professional courses and areas of research including medical, forensic, food, agriculture, dental, law, intellectual property, business programs etc.
  • Students will be able to solve various problems by identifying the essential parts of a problem, formulate strategy for solving the problem, applying appropriate techniques to arrive at a solution, test the precision and accuracy of the solution and interpret the results.

Hands-on training/ Field Visits:

The department shall conduct visits to related institutes of repute for hands-on. Field visits to done for practical experience when and wherever required. The visit shall be organized under the supervision of a faculty member engaged in the teaching of the course.

Examination Process:

At the end of every semester, the students will be subjected to written examination of theory and practical papers. Internal assessment, end semester examination and declaration of results of the programme shall be governed by the rules and regulations of the university from time to time.

Dissertation Work:

A student is required to Dissertation work rt in the Second Semester on application of Analytical chemistry under the guidance of a faculty member from among the teachers engaged in the teaching of the course. The topic of the Dissertation has to be proposed by the candidate at the beginning of the Second Semester. The findings of the project report will be presented by the candidate in a seminar on a date decided by the HOD. The content of the Dissertation, its presentation in the seminar and viva voce shall be evaluated by a committee comprising of the HOD, concerned supervisor and one faculty member nominated by HOD from among the teachers engaged in the teaching of the course.
